Just a short sweet blog to share a little about my concert at FBC Oviedo most recently. What can I say?? I was very impressed with this church! The building was incredible..more importantly the people were even more incredible. That's what matters isn't it? The people that make up the church. FBC Oviedo must have something good happening, after all it is a mega church. The sanctuary only holds 3,000 people! Before you think I made it to the big time let me share with you..I didn't sing in the sanctuary. I can just hear the people now saying "Melissa Jo who? Never heard of her..Doesn't matter to me. I had a nice spot to sing for the seniors right in the lobby. It wasn't just any ole lobby though. The lobby itself was massive. Perfect for a nice intimate seniors gospel celebration. Have I mentioned how special this group of people are? Oh, can't keep repeating that. Blessed once again. Mr. Jim Wadley is the director for this active group, if your in the Sanford Fl area and need a great church with an active seniors group. Check them out! You won't be sorry.
Hello!
Welcome to my blog page! Hope you will bookmark my site and follow me as I blog my way through my journey as Christian recording artist.
Enjoyed being the guest soloist in Weirsdale, Florida this past Sunday. Lovely little town with country roads stretching for miles around. This church was established in 1890, if I remember correctly. They rang a bell to begin the service, which added to the charm of this beautiful, well preserved church. As I am increasingly experiencing worship with different churches and various gatherings of believers, it just amazes me how the church continues to function as Christ called us to. Of course not every church is functioning to its full potential and there are many problems of different sorts in the church, but it still amazes me nonetheless. Jesus gave us the command to "go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." (Matthew 28:19) As the guest Pastor Jerry Phillips preached, we need to keep the work of the church on what Christ commanded and not be sidetracked by the preservation of the church itself as an imploding body of believers; turning in on self & self preservation, instead we need to be exploding with the good news out to others in our community and into all the ends of the earth. What a great functioning the body would have then. How we could glorify the Lord so much greater. That is my hope & prayer for the church. Don't we want to hear "well done good & faithful servant?"
Great time at the Apopka Foliage Fest this weekend! God moved & I believe seed was planted through the music & words. I am always thrilled & humbled to be working with God to minister to those hurting & in need of a Savior. Thankful to have the opportunity to share the message of hope, Gods love and holiness during this wonderful event.
